In 2008, an experiment was conducted to determine whether vaccinating a community's school children against the flu protects the whole community from the flu. The researchers recruited remote Hutterite farming colonies from western Canada for the study. The treatments "flu shot" and "placebo shot" were randomly assigned to 49 colonies: In 25 colonies, all children aged 3-15 received flu shots, and in the other 24 colonies, the children aged 3-15 received a placebo shot. The researchers recorded the percentage of each colony's population with laboratory confirmed flu over the following winter and spring. The Question: In this study, the researchers gave children placebos when they knew the flu shot would prevent the children front getting sick. Is this an ethical choice of treatments? IN THE NEED OF URGENCY OR IN THE OUTBREAK OF THE DISEASE IT IS NOT RECOMMENDED TO GIVE PLACEBOS AS IT DONT GIVE THE FIGHTING CAPACITY TO THE BODY TO RESIST THE DISEASE IN THAT CASE GIVING FLU SHOTS ARE MORE NECESSARY, AS RESEARCHERS HAVE DONE THE EXPERIMENT TO TEST THE MEDICINE AT THE TIME OF OUTBREAK IS CERTAINLY AN UNETHICAL ACT BECAUSE EVEN AFTER KNOWING THAT THE MEDICINE CAN SAVE THE LIFE GIVING PLACEBOS NEVER RECOMMENDED.
