Question
If we want to study of spread of a global epidemic and say we like to examine the seriousness of the epidemic (SER) from various perspectives so they can help slow the progress of the illness and assist health care workers across the nation. SER is an index computed for each patient and is based on a variety of factors such as basal temperature, days of infection, blood test results etc. The epidemic is being tracked in three regions—North eastern seaboard, the Gulf coast, and the Midwest. We perform a 3x2 (region x gender) factorial ANOVA and get results.
Given the unequal cell sizes, what would be of most concern in conducting an ANOVA?
Explanation / Answer
If the difference between the sample size is too large, this can affect the homogeneity of variance assumption.
