Below you are given the total amount of weight lost in six months by each person.

Diet B 87, 88, 99, 80
Diet C 61, 59, 67, 67
a. state the null and alternative hypotheses. b. calculate the test statistics. c. What would you conclude about the effectiveness of the three diets? use a .05 level of significance. show as much work as possible please
Explanation / Answer
a) Null hypothesis Ho: there is no difference in three diet
alternative hypotheisis H1: atleast two differ among three diet
b) we go for test of several means using F-test (One way Anova)
F-statistics=18.5(df 2,6) and and its P-value is 0.0027 and at alpha=0.05( 5% level of significance) it is significant as the P-value is less than the alpha. so we reject null hypothesis that there is no difference in three diet .
