2x+12y=107--eq(1)

Cost of 5 chairs and 3 tables is 38

5x+3y = 38-- eq(2)

Now solving

eq(1)-4eq(2)

=? (2x +12y)-(20x+12y) =107- 152

=? -18x=-45

=? x = 5/2= 2.5

Now solving for y

2(2.5)+12y=107

=? y =8.5
