(a) How many different routes are there from A to Caltogethe (b) How many different routes are there from A to Cand back (any road can be used once in each direction)? (c) How many different routes are there from A to c and back in part (b) that visit least once? (d) How many different routes are there from A to c and back in part (b) that do not use any road twice?

Explanation / Answer

(According to Chegg policy, one question or a maximum of four subquestions within the first question will be answered. Please post the remaining in another question)

1. (a) There are four different letters in CRAB and we need to pick two.

This can be done in 4P2 or 12 ways.

There are 5 different letters in STATISTICS and we need to pick two.

This can be done in 5P2 or 60 ways.

(b) The vowel can come in only one way - A.

The consonant can come in three ways - C,R,B.

Therefore, the vowel and the consonant can come in 1*3 = 3 ways.
