A recent study examined how applicants with a facial blemish such as a scar or birthmark fared in job interviews (Madera & Hebl, 2011). The results indicate that interviewers recalled less information and gave lower rating to applicants with a blemish. In a similar study, participants conducted computer-simulated interviews with a series of applicants including one with a facial scar and one with a facial birthmark.

Let the null hypothese be H0 : M1 =M2=M3 against the alternative Hypothese H1: M1M2M3 or H2: M1=M2M3 or H3: M1M2=M3 and so on.
From the ANOVA table, we have MS due Scar = SS/df = 6/4 = 1.5; MSE due to Birthmark = 10/4 = 2.5 and MSE due to No Blemish = 10/4 = 2.5
So, F = MSE due to Dcar / MSE due No Blemish = 1.5/2.5 = 0.6.
The tabulated value of F at (4,4) df = 6.39. So Ho is accepted.
