This is expressed in the following equation: dn = -mu n dx Explain the "negative sign" in this equation. In the equation above, why is mu called "linear" coefficient of absorption? Can you see why is the ratio of the linear coefficient of absorption to the density of the material called "mass absorption coefficient"?
