PROVIDE A CLEAR AND DETAILED EXPLANATION STEP BY STEP FOR EACH PART

Your catering business is responsible for 2 large parties at the same time. One of the parties is for 125 people and the other is for 275 people. You will be serving 4oz chocolate pudding cups for both parties.

a) How many total #10 cans will you need for if both parties are serving 4 oz chocolate pudding?

b) If there are 6- #10 cans/case, how many cases of chocolate pudding would you have to order?

c) If you have a recipe that serves 25- 4oz portions. What is the conversion factor if you want to serve 125- 6oz portions?

Explanation / Answer

#10 cans are metal cans used for storage, which on an average holds 109 oz of the sample.

Now both parties are serving 4 oz chocolate pudding cups.

a) Total Number of Chocolate pudding cups = 125 + 275 = 500

Weight of chocolate pudding = 500 x 4 = 2000oz

No. of #10 cans needed = 2000/ 109 = 18.3486 cans

i.e. the total of 19 # 10 cans will be needed.

b) if there are only 6 # 10 cans available / case

then weight of chocolate pudding it will store = 6 x 109 = 654

No. of chocolate pudding cups that can be orderd = 654 / 4 = 163.5

i.e. 163 cups per case.

c) A recepie yields 25 - 4oz portions.

i.e. total weight = 25 x 4 = 100 oz

Required yield = 125 - 6 oz portions i.e. total weight = 125 x 6 = 750 oz

Conversion factor = ( Desired yield ) / (original yield)

Thus, coversion factor = 750 / 100 = 7.5
