using the formulae

off all the mothers who smoked 250+100 = 350 and 250 have prematured birth , so 250/350

premature for mothers whi did not smoke

750+900 = 1650 , 750/1650

odds ratio would be 250/350 = 0.714 and 750/1650 = 0.45

so the ratio is 0.714/0.45 = 1.57

In this context , this means mothers who smoke are 1.57 times more likely to give a premature birth when compared to mothers who do not smoke.
