Question
Hiring Employees Assume that Google, Inc. hires employees on the different business days of the week (Monday through Friday) with equal likelihood. If two different employees are randomly selected, what is the probability that they were both hired Monday? If two different employees are randomly selected, what is the probability that they were both hired on the same day of the week? What is the probability that 10 people in the same department were all hired on the same day of the week? Is such an event unlikely?Explanation / Answer
Here ,
we have given
(a) here we assume that
first person could have been hired on any day ( Monday) And also Second person must have been hired on the same day as first person
that is
P= P( 1st person hired on any day) * P( 2nd person hired on same day)
= (5/5) * 1/5)
P=1/5
probability of both empleyee hires on Monday = 1/5
(b) Now ,
we want to find the
P ( two empleyee hired on same day of week) =?
So this is similar to 1st problem
Here we have to find this probablity for two employee =n=2
we know the prob of two emplyee hired on monday = 1/5
now we want to find both are hired on same day =5/5 =1
(c) now we want to find
P( 10 emplyee hired on same day) =?
Here we have 10 emplayee so we want to take power 10=10 ^10
which is = 5/ 10000000000
which is the probablity =10 * E ^ -5
