A drug company is investigating the effects of a new medication and how it affects a participant’s Blood Pressure. The twenty-eight participants in the treatment condition received this new dug, while the other twenty-two participants received a sugar pill. The Blood Pressures of each participant was taken before and after the experiment, and a difference was calculated.

Write a paragraph describing the variables in the study. Which is the dependent variable? Which is the PRIMARY independent variable? What types of scales are used to measure the variables? Explain.

It is the case of paired t test for two independent samples of sizes 28 and 22. The variables are the results of the blood pressure before and after taking medicines i. e. before and after the experiment. Thus, we have two pairs of values for each sample.
