Explanation / Answer

A missense mutation is a nucleotide change that causes the codon toencode a different amino acid. So an example of this would bea mutation in the second codon, from TTC to TTA . The encodedamino acid would be 'leu' instead of 'phe'. A frameshift mutation would be the deletion or addition of a singlenucleotide. This will totally change the translation product. An example would be a deletion of the 'C' in the second codon ofthe original sequence. Basically TTC becomes just TT A nonsense mutation is basically a mutation that leads to theencoding of a premature stop codon. The stop codon is justUGA. If we mutate the codon that encodes gly, GGA, to UGAthen you would get a premature stop codon in the codingsequence. I hope I answered your question. Let me know if you need anyclarification.
