There is a legal requirement that the powder of any container weigh no less than 123.5 ounces. In part to verify that this requirement is being met, past practice has been for a quality control technician to select two containers from the line twice each shift and determine the weight of the contents of each container. At the end of each month a histogram is plotted in order to display the current operating ability of the process. The most recent histogram is shown below. Based on this histogram what conclusions can be made about the soap filling process for this powdered product? What follow up action would be appropriate based upon this data?

Based on the histogram it can be seen that the majority of the weights are centered around 127 and 128 with the minimum value being 123.5 and the highest being 135 . Hence the condition of no less than 123.5 is being met for the last month. However the company might loose on revenue because of packaging more soap in the product for the same price that conditions the soap to be around 123.5 ounces. some values are as high as 129 ounces

The follow up action should be to ensure that the peak of the histogram is skewed towards the value of 123.5 , so that the majority of the products have the minimum requirement of 123.5 ounces and company does not incurr losses because og higher weight of the soap.
