Question

I am having trouble solveing a statistics question. I am coping and pasting the problem below. I would appraciate if someone could double check my work to make sure it is correct, and help me find the F-critical value.

A stats professor is wondering why people fall asleep in his stats class. He keeps the room temperature at a cozy 75-degrees. Might 75-degrees be too cozy and cause drowsiness? He designs a study to investigate the impact of room temperature on sleepiness. In the study, 21 participants are randomly assigned to three conditions (7 subjects per condition). The first group spends an hour sitting in a room whose temperature is 70 degrees; the second group spends the hour in a 75-degree room; and the third group spends the hour in an 80-degree room. At the end of the hour, participants rate their sleepiness on a 1-10 scale (higher scores = more sleepiness). His results are summarized below:

Room Temperature

70 degrees

75 degrees

80 degrees

X = 34

n = 7

X2 = 176

X(bar) = 4.90

X = 50

n = 7

X2 = 368

X(bar) = 7.10

X = 42

n = 7

X2 = 264

X(bar) = 6.00

X = 126

n = 21

X2 = 808

Carry out a one-way ANOVA to test the effects of these variables in this experiment. Create and record your calculations in the ANOVA table. (10 points)

your work is flawless

as F obtained is higher then F critical we reject the null hypothesis
