My research question is will students who are competing against the opposite sex in memory capability do better versus students who think they are just taking a memory test? State the null and alternative hypothesis (in both words and statistical notation) need to address the research question. Choose which statistical test would be used to conduct the study and support it with research. Describe the type of data needs to be collected to conduct the study and what techniques are best for collecting data.

Hypotheses:

H0: mu1-mu2=0 (there is no difference in population mean score for two group of students)

H1:mu1-mu2>0 (population mean score for group1 is higher than group2)

where, group1 represent students who compete against the opposite sex in memory capability and group2 represent control group.

The statistical test is a two sample t test for difference between two means.

The subjects should be selected using simple random sampling, and then be randomly assigned to either of the treatment groups.
