Question
Another group of 225 Americans was asked "Which is your dominant hand your left, your right or both/neither?'' The results of this survey are shown below: This group believes that 87% of Americans are right handed, 10% are left handed, and 3% are ambidextrous (corresponding to "Both/Neither"). Test the relevant hypothesis at sigma = 0.05 using Pearson's test. Be sure to show H_0, H_A, the test-statistic, the p-value, your decision, and your conclusion in terms of the problem. What hypothetical percentages for the null hypothesis would result in a test-statistic of zero? Show the percentages for each groupExplanation / Answer
a) null hypothesis: H0: dominant hand % are 87% for right handed , 10% for left and 3% for ambidextrous people
alternate hypothesis:Ha :dominant hand % are not equal to 87% for right handed , 10% for left and 3% for ambidextrous people
here test stat chi square X2 =1.55
for which p value =0.46
as p value is significantly higher then 0.05 level, we can not reject the null hypothesis that dominant hand % are 87% for right handed , 10% for left and 3% for ambidextrous people.
b) for % in proportion to count will result into test stat 0.those are given in corresponding column of observed values.
