Given below are the ages of motorcyclists at the time they were fatally injured in traffic accidents (based on data from the U.S Department of Transportation).

a)If your objective is to dramatize the dangers of motorcycles for young people, which would be the most effective: Histogram, Pareto chart, Pie Chart, Dotplot, Stemplot, or some other graph? Explain your choice.

b)Is it ok to deliberately distort the data if the objective is one such as saving lives of motorcycles?

Explanation / Answer

According to the data, Histogram will be the best representation for this data, because as the age group of motorcyclist increases, the histogram can claearly shows the no. of accident decreases, means as in the young age of motorcyclist , the number of accident will be highest peak , (may be looke like right tailed ), or we can say youths are very fond of motorcycles, thats why number of accidents are hight for young age motorcyclist.

Of course it is not okay to distort data if that means falsifying data. Motives are entirely beside the point. It also is not okay to draw or imply incorrect conclusions, although we see it all the time.
