Question

hey please provide me a proper answer using types of sampling and measurement. thanks

You have just argued with your friend about how old SAIT students are in general. To prove to your friend that you are right in your estimate, you have decided to conduct a survey asking your classmates in Stat 2040 how old they are. Identify the level of measurement in the survey. Will the result of the survey be representative of your target population? Why, or why not? In deciding to survey your classmates in Stat 2040, what kind of sampling technique have you employed? Why would it be feasible, or not feasible for you to conduct a census for this survey? What sampling technique would you use to choose a more representative sample for your survey?

Explanation / Answer

As age can be meausred on a number scale , we know that the level of measured in this case is Numeric

b) It is not given whether students are sait students are not

If the students are sait students , then the sample would be a good representative of of the popultion

However , if the students are not from sait then the survey of students who do not even belong to sait class will be a totally wrong sample for the population.

c) If there are many classes/sections of the sait students , then it would be a good idea to perform a stratified random samples based on classes , where each student from each class will have a equal chance of getting slected to respond o the survey , thereby covering the entire population reasonably and this would be a good representative of the population.

eg : if there are 5 classes , where each class has 20 students , so total population would be 100

now we can create 5 strata for 5 classes , and lets say we want to take a sample of 20 students , so we shall then do a random sample of 4 students at EACH class , thereby covering all the 5 classes , taking 4 students each for the survey. This would gice s 20 sample students which would truely represent students from all 5 classes and represent the entire population
