In 2002, three athletes were struck by a shot put and one by a discus; a coach was struck by a shot put. What is the probability that there would be five strikes in 2017?Explanation / Answer
1) There are total of 20 years (1992 to 2012) & no. of strikes= 23
so prob of any strike in a year= 20/23= 0.869
2) 0.869 is the probability that strike will happen on any given year
3) 0.005 using Poisson distribution: =POISSON.DIST(5,23/20,FALSE)
