Question

Suppose we have two Binomial proportion GLMs Model 1 and Model 2, where one of the models is nested within the other. Suppose we have On the basis of this information, which model is preferred? Explain clearly why. Provide as many reasons as you can based only on this information. If you use a hypothesis test as part of your answer, you should clearly state You null and alternative hypotheses in terms of the two models. Your test statistic and its approximate distribution if one of the models is true (specify which one) your decision rule if testing at significance level a = 0.01, and your decision.

Explanation / Answer

Solution: Here Residual Deviance means deviance in error term. i.e the lower the deviance the better model is explained by our independent variable.

Residual Degree of freedom: It means the no of Predicter variable used in our model(n -1), since we have intercept as one predicter

So in model 1 we have 8-1 deg of freedom = 7 predicter & Residual deviance = 8.9

and model 2 we have 11-1 def of freedom = 10 & Residual deviance = 25.2

Null hypothesis : There is no difference between the model i.e model 1= model2

alternate : There is a difference betweent the model
