In an example it show how to find the limit f(x) x---> -12 by examining the behavior of x^2-13x+12 / x+12 it shows x = 12.01, x^2-13x+12 / x+12 = -31,237.01 It doesn't show the whole process. How did they get - 31,237.01? I tried plugging in -12.01 where the x's are but I get a different answer. :/

How did they get - 31,237.01? I tried plugging in -12.01 where the x's are but I get a different answer. :/ In both cases they are approximating by using a table on a graphing calculator. They are not looking for the exact answer as you found, do plug in the functions into y= and go to a table and look at when x=12.01
