Question
A horse breeder plans to construct a corral next to a horse barn that is 50 feet long, using all of the barn as one side of the corral. He has 310 feet of fencing available and wants to use all of it. A) Express the area A(x) of the corral as a function of x and state its domain in interval notation B) Find the value of x that produces max area C) What are the dimensions of the corral with the max area I do not no where to begin with this application practice problem. Im struggling to visualize it. Please if someone can show steps and maybe even a figure.Thank You.Explanation / Answer
Assuming the corral is a rectangle, so the opposite width is also 50ft, then the answer is (310 - 50)/2 for each side = 130ft. The max area is 6500 ft^2 and the dimension of the fence are 50 wide by 130 long
