Question
A trucking company conducted an ANOVA analysis comparing the mean mileage associated with several different brands of tires. The ANOVA table is shown below. a) How many brands of tires did the company compare? 3 b) What is the value of B in the ANOVA table? Give your answer to three decimal places. 47.387 c) What is the value of C in the ANOVA table? Give your answer to four decimal places. 1.3204 d) Using a 0.05 level of significance, what is the critical point compared to the F statistic in order to make a conclusion? Give your answer to four decimal places. e) Using a 0.05 level of significance, what conclusion should the company reach? Fail to reject the hypothesis that one brand has a different mean mileage than the other brands. Reject the hypothesis that all brands have the same mean mileage. Reject the hypothesis that one brand has a different mean mileage than the other brands. Fail to reject the hypothesis that all brands have the same mean mileage.Explanation / Answer
We have to given ANOVA table .
In the ANOVA table given that Calculated F-statistic is = 6.944487
and now from MS-Excel we have to calculate the F-tabulated or see value in the table 3.4433
This value calculate IN MS-Excel using command FINV(0.05,2,22)
Where 2 and 22 are the degree of the freedom and 0.05 is level of the significance.
So,Critical value is 3..4433,The F - value is higher than the critical value ,so, we reject the Null Hypothesis.
Answer
d.) Critical value is 3..4433
e.)
Result: Reject the hypothesis that all brands have the same mean mileage
