We do the test for difference in proportions in 2 samples in case of categorical variables (eg Yes or No) because in that case we get the proportion point estimates from the 2 samples.Therefore c) is incorrect . But in case of the quantitative variables like weight from 2 samples, we do the test for difference in 2 sample means. Therefore a) is incorrect.

Therefore b) is the correct answer here where we are comparing the 2 means for the given quantitative variable.
