Lionel is a waiter at a local diner. He notices that he seems to earn less in tips when he works the lunch shift compared with the breakfast or dinner shift. Lionel is curious whether customers tip differently depending on the time of day, so he decides to test this by comparing the average amount tipped during each shift for one week. His data appears in Figure 10.63. By hand, using Excel, or using SPSS, conduct the full hypothesis testing procedure for his data and draw any appropriate conclusions. Report the full ANOVA summary table.

Breakfast Lunch Dinner 5456852 3125442 3236145

Explanation / Answer

Since p value is greater than 0.05 so we cannot reject the null hypothesis that mean tip for the shift is the same. There is no significnat difference in tips among the shifts
