Question

6 pt Question 2 Select the most appropriate statistical analysis for the following hypothetical studies. Consider the nature of the data and which analysis is most appropriate for it. Keep in mind that the following list o statistical analyses may be appropriate for 0, 1, or many of the hypothetical studies presented A researcher comes across a study Choose suggesting that children who eat more fast food are more prone to illness than Choose l children who consume mostly gourmet independent measures/samples t-test or home cooked meals. However, the partial correlation single factor ANOVA researcher is skeptical of the claims and single sample t-test wants to investigate if socioeconomic chi square test for goodness of fit status explains the relationship Regression between food type and illness. The chi-square test for independence researcher collects data from a random lated samples t-test sample of mothers with children age 6- z-test for sample mean 10 and asks them to report their annua multiple independent mcasuros/sample t-tosts household income, what percentage of correlation their child's food intake is fast food versus gourmet or home cooked, and how many times (on average) their child gets sick per ycar

Explanation / Answer

a)

In part first we have to given three random variables ( Income of family, food type and illness ) out of that two are independent variables that are family income per annum (X1) and food type (X2) (fast food and gourmet cooked food) and dependent varible is children getting illness (Y). Here Y is dependent on X1 and X2. In such situation we calculate regression analysis.

b)

In second part we have four different variables which are study hours of Freshman, Sophomores, jouniors and seniors. And investigator want to test mean hours of study of these four varibles are different per semester. In such case (In more than two varibles) we mostly used ANOVA for testing otherwise used t-test. So here we used ANOVA for testing.

c)

After adding the stickers with gruesome images on cigarette packs will negatively impact on cigarette sales. we have data set of Nevada state the average number of cigarette packs sold per week. And this is comapared with National average (standard deviation not available). In this case use t-test for comparision because standard deviation is not known elsewhere we used z-test.

d)

Here data set of blood pressure before drinking caffeine and after drinking caffeine are available and checked whethere caffeine effects on blood pressure or not. In such case we used paired t-test for testing for comparision.
