In order to determine the prevalence of leishmaniasis infection (a disease spread by the bite of the female sandfly) among children and factors associated with its transmission in a high incidence area for the disease in Ethiopia, a sample of 600 children aged 4-15 years were surveyed using a serological test to determine their Leishmania status and a questionnaire covering socio-demographic, health and dietary factors.
