Statistics Q 3 uiz PLEASE DO NOT WRITE ON THIS QUIZ SHEET (give the best answer to each item) 1. Which correlation value represents the relationship between body weight today and body weight in one year for a group of adults? a. .94 b. .22 d. 1.00 2. Which correlation value best represents the relationship between temperature and the number of jackets that are worn? a. 80 b. 1.00 12 c. 84 hich correlation value represent the relationship between the number of hours 3. students study and the number of bathroom in their houses? 07 81 d. 3.67 4. If one computes the correlation coefficient, r, helshe would be computing the relationship between a. A nominal variable and an ordinal variable b. Two nominally-scaled variables ratio- or interval scaled c. A ratio or interval scaled variable and another variable d. Two ordinal variables 5. In the relationship between "age of house" and "cost of repairs," the dependent variable is a. Size of house b. Amount of time to build the house c. Age of house d. Cost of repairsExplanation / Answer
Although no data has been provided with the questions, i am answering based on my best judgement
Q1) ans is a(0.94) | If we take two values i.e. current weight and future weight they will be related to each other to a larger extent. Which means they move in similar direction i.e. if it is less...it will almost be less in next year as well and vice versa
Q2) ans is d(-0.84)- Temprature and no of jackets follows opposite patters i.e. if temprature increases, heat increases and hence jackets reduces and vice versa that is why they have a opposite correlation. Since they are not perfectly related to each other that is why it is not perfect -1
Q3) ans is b(0.7) - The two variables have almost have not effect on each other that is why there correlation will be very low
Q4) ans is b(Two nominally scaled variables) - Because generally correlation is computed between two random variables
Q5) ans is d(cost of repairs) . Cost of repairs is the dependent variable becuase its value will be computed based on age of house
(PN: Max subparts that can be solved is 3, still i have solved 5)
