A survey examined public opinion about the effectiveness of the criminal justice

A survey examined public opinion about the effectiveness of the criminal justice system (based on a scale of 1 - 10) for those who had been crime victims and those who had not been crime victims. What kind of a means test would be used in the study to look at the difference (if any) in the attitude toward criminal justice? (NOTE: In this study the scale of 1 - 10 is being treated as a quantitative variable, rather than an ordinal variable).

A Dependent Samples T test.

An Independent Samples T test.

Explanation / Answer

Since, those who had been crime victims and those who had not been crime victims are independent and we have two samples (each for crime victims and no crime victims) we should use An Independent Samples T test.
