Question
I only need help with part a)
Report the value and uncertainty for f(x) using the following experimental values for the parameters A, B, and x, obtained from the corresponding gauges shown in the following table. f (x) = x^2 - A sin (x/B) a. Calculate the standard uncertainty in Excel without using the macro UNCERTAINTY. Show your work for each step. b. Calculate the expanded uncertainty at the 95% confidence level using the user form macro UNCERTAINTY. Compare the uncertainty found from the law of propagation and Monte Carlo methods.Explanation / Answer
a)
Here the values for x ,A,B are given.
we find the average for all the 3 values to take the values.
avg(x)=2.7+3.5+3.4+3.1+2.6/5=3.58
avg(A)=7.60+7.65+7.50+7.45+7.55/5=7.55
avg(B)=0.843+0.857+0.847+0.847+0.847/5=0.8482
f(x)=x^2-Asin(x/B)
=(3.58)^2-7.55*sin(3.58/0.8482)
=12.8164-7.55*(-0.881537)
6.65560+12.8164
=19.472
f(x)=19.472
