They assigned job status levels such that the lowest status jobs had a status of 1 and the highest status of jobs had a 4. Data are given below. a) Give, in relative frequencies, the marginal distribution for marital status. b) Give, in relative frequencies, the marginal distribution for job status. c) Should each of the marginal distributions add to exactly 100%? Why or why not? a) What percent of single people hold Status level 1 jobs? b) What percent of Status level 1 job are held by are single people?

Explanation / Answer

ANSWER TO QUATION 5 ONLY IS ASKED.

5 (a)

Total of status level 1 jobs = 955

Outof these 955 status level 1 jobs, number of single people = 58.

So, proportion of single people holding status level 1 jobs = 58/955 = 0.0607

So, percentage of single people holding status level 1 jobs = 6.07 %

(b) Total of single people = 337.

Outof these 337 single people, number of single people holding status level 1 jobs = 58.

So, proportion of status level 1 jobs held by single people = 58/337 = 0.1721

So, percentage of status level 1 jobs held by single people = 17.21
