Explanation / Answer

Answer

Here by the problem,

A principal has been accused of plagiarism in a letter sent out to school faculty, and it has been asked to test if the principal is guilty.

a) So here our primary idea should not get inclined to any decision regarding firing the principle cause it will against the general perspective of continuing with the principle. SO here our test will be primarily based on the idea that the principal is not guilty and we will test the guilt based on evidence.

Hence the null and the alternative hypothesis will be,

C) H0: The principal did not plagiarize the letter.
Ha: The principal plagiarized the letter

Here we dont take the option of fired or not cause that is a deciaion, not a fact based on evidence

b) Now the school district is very concerned that if they fire the principal, but it turns out he did not plagiarize the letter, he could sue for wrongful termination. So the school board want to avoid the wrongful termination of the principle that is termination when the principal is not guilty.

Or in other words avoiding the error of rejecting H0 when it is true.

This type of error is said as Type 1 error.

Hence the answer.................
