Question

A researcher is interested in what impact self-focusing cues have on exercise behavior she manipulates four stations at a local and physical fitness center for women One station has a large installed another includes a computer-feedback system the third station has a personal trainer present at all times, and the fourth station is shifted behind a small privacy wall. The women used the stations in whatever order they chose. Six women are assessed or the intensity of their efforts at each station Hidden cameras are used They are scored from 50, meaning low intensity. to 100, high intensity Some hypothetical data shown in the table.

Explanation / Answer

Question did not give last part. But, I think that this is a comparision of means between station for the women scores. Hence, the hypothesis and analysis are

Null Hypothesis: All the means comming from four station are same

Alternative Hypothesis: At least a mean comming from a station is different from remaining means.

One-way ANOVA: Score versus Station

Source DF SS MS F P
Station 3 1075.5 358.5 6.60 0.003
Error 20 1086.5 54.3
Total 23 2162.0

S = 7.371 R-Sq = 49.74% R-Sq(adj) = 42.21%

Conclusion: The estimated p-value is 0.003 and less than 0.05 level of significance. Hence, we can not reject the null hypothesis and conclude that at least a mean coming from a station is different from remaining means.
