1. A test statistic is a statistic used in statisticalhypothesis testing. A hypothesis test is typically specified in terms of a test statistic, considered as a numerical summary of a data-set that reduces the data to one value that can be used to perform the hypothesis test.

Now, to contradict or support a claim we wll use t-test for hypothesis testing. If t statistic is less than critical t value then it is in rejection region and we can reject null hypothesis. if t statistic isn't in rejection region then we fail to reject null hypothesis.
