Question

Can you please tell me why this is the Answer? I know that a 30 increase is not allowed because it exceeds the range of feesibility but when I choose **Nothing. The values of the decision variables, the shadow prices, and the objective function will all remain the same.*** as the answer it was marked wrong. Please tell me why

A section of output from Excel Solver is shown below. Final Reduced objective Allowable Allowable Name Value Cost Coefficient Increase Decrease 150 Product A 100 Product B 100 300 60 120 What will happen to the solution if the objective function coefficient for Product A increases by 30? The problem will need to be resolved to find the new optimal solution and Selected Answer: shadow prices

Explanation / Answer

Previously the problem can be formulated as :
Optimize 100*ProductA + 300*ProductB
subject to the constraints,

where the optimum solution was : Product A = 150
Product B = 100

Now, basically the problem becomes :
Optimize 130*ProductA + 300*ProductB

subject to the necessary constraints.
This problem has to be solved to get the new optimal solution.
