Question
Regarding the F-Test:
I have an experiment involving finding the concentration of an unknown sample containing 5 compounds. For accuracy, the experiment is being completed by two seperate methods. I currently have five standard deviations, one for each compound, for both methods. The assignment says to report THE Fcalc value for each method, not for each compound. How do I go about finding the standard deviation of the method given the five standard deviations for each compound? I would assume each deviation is unique so how can they be combined?
Explanation / Answer
see,you have taken measuremnets on each compound 5 times.you get the mean of these two measurements corresponding to each compound.you have to find the sd of these means to get the sd of the whole method.
you don't need to reach the goal using 5 sd's
Thanks
