Question

(dy Af the proportion of heads is smaller than 0.30, you win 81 Scwa Backgammon is a board game for two players in which the playing piece are moved according to the roll of two dice. Players win by removing all of their pieces from the boded,so its sually good to roll high mumbers. You are playing backgammon with a friend and you roll two 6s i your first roll and two Gs in your second roll. Your friend rolls two 3s in his first roll and again in his second row. Your friend claims that you are cheating, because rölling double 6s twice in a row is ery unlikely. Using probability, show that your rolls were just as likely as his.

Explanation / Answer

as having a double 6 is one event in 36 events ;

therefore probability of double 6 in first and second roll =P(  double 6 in first roll*double 6 in first roll) =(1/36)*(1/36)=

=1/1296

similarly

having a double 3 is one event in 36 events ;

therefore probability of double 3 in first and second roll =P(  double 3 in first roll*double 3 in first roll) =(1/36)*(1/36)=

=1/1296

as we can see that both the events are equal because of having same number of favourable outcome
