We can clearly see that at the right end of the image, the equipotenital surfaces become straight vertical lines

So, Electric field lines needs to be horizontal and parallel and directed towards left (towards decreasing electric potential) and the parallel electric field lines tell us the electric field is constant at this point.

Now, magnitude of electric field, E = dV/dx = change in potential / distance

Now, from the image potential changes from +40V to 0 V by moving 0.4 m from right to left
