Question
The circuit at right contains a battery, a bulb, a switch, and a capacitor. The capacitor is initally uncharged. Describe the behavior of the bulb in the two Bulb A a. situations below. Battery Capacitor tch is first moved to position / Describe the behavior of the bulb from just after the switch is closed until a long time later. Explain. The bulb will be brigh and then it uwill go dim and eventuollq2 hrough bul b turn off becouse thare will be no curernl going i. The switch is now moved to position 2. Describe the behavior of the bulb from just after the switch is closed until a long time later. Explain your reasoning.Explanation / Answer
As soon as switch is changed to position 2 from position 1, Fully charged Capacitor starts discharging as per RC Circuit. Initially Current is maximum when discharging started, therefore Bulb glows maximum, but with time, Current decreases exponentially, and therefore Bulb glow will diminish, and finally when Current becomes Zero after long time, bulg glow will stop, as there will be no current.
