Question

The Data Set Below are the results from my correlation analysis

Question 3 - 5 Are Based upon the data from correltion tests just want to compare my answers

Question 3) I got 3.67%

Question 4) Notes indicate An 'r' coefficient is an indicator of strength otherwise knows as practical signifigance of the relationship between 2 variables. Then it says I need to square the correlation. An example was a correlation of .30 between X and Y shows that there is a 9 percent overlap. That is not helping me either

Question 5) Using a cutoff of an absolutue value equal to .50 is what I have in my notes but is not clear to me

Explanation / Answer

3. The correlation coefficient, r is the probability of observing results as extreme or more, when the null hypothesis is true. Therefore, from the given output, there is 63.7% probability (look into the significance) that the correlation value found was due to error.

4. Effect size is a measure of strength of a relationship and is measured in term sof correlation coeffciient in the current study. Therefore, the effect size is 0.171.

5. According to Cohen, effect size is classied as low, medium and large if r varies around 0.1, 0.3, and above 0.5 respectively. Therefore, the effect size can be described as weak.
