Question

Epistomology is the study of knowledge, and therefore, is concerned with how knowledge is generated, what classifies as knowledge, and how reality plays into what we know. The interpretivists believe that organizational knowledge can only be created from the point of view of the individuals that work within a particular culture or organization.  Based on this belief, knowledge is truly contextual and subjective based on the shared understandings of those within the organization. Please discuss the intergovernmental concept of Knowledge Management (KM) in terms of this framework.

Explanation / Answer

Intergovernmental concept of Knowledge Management is related to the interpretivist concept in the sense that knowledge is created from the point of view of the individuals that work within a particular governmental setup, it is contextual in nature and subjectuve based on the shared understandings of those within the governmental setup. In intergovernmental concept, the knowledge of one governmental setup differs from that of different government setup. In order to succeed in this kind of setup, Knowledge Management must be carried out in collaboration with various governmental setups and cumulative knowledge arising out of it must be utilised in a broader perspective.
