Question
If its possible, can you please use the program R to solve this problem and post the formula you used to get the answer on R? Thank you!
Below is a table of pulse rates of women who drink alcohol after running for one minute. The mean pulse rate for a women who does not drink alcohol after running for one minute is 97 beats per minute (bpm). Is there significant evidence to state that the average pulse rate of women who drink alcohol after running for one minute is higher than the average pulse rate of women who do not drink after running for one minute? Test at the 5% significance level.

Explanation / Answer
Ho : Mean pulse rate for women who drink alchohol after running for one minute is equal to mean pulse rate for a women who does not drink alcohol, which, is 97 beats per minute (bpm) . = 97 bpm
Ha : Mean pulse rate for women whodrink alchohol after running for one minute is greater than the mean pulse rate for a women who does not drink alcohol, which, is 97 beats per minute (bpm) . > 97 bpm
AVerage of the sample xbar = 109.7857
Standard deviation of sample s = 25.43
Here test statistic
t = (xbar - H )/ (s/n)
t = (109.79 - 97)/ (25.43/ 14)
t = 12.79/ 6.7964 = 1.88
so here, dF = 14-1 = 13 and significanre level = 0.05 for one direction
tcrt = 1.771
so here t > tcritical , so we will reject the null hypothesis and conclude that Mean pulse rate for women whodrink alchohol after running for one minute is greater than the mean pulse rate for a women who does not drink alcohol, which, is 97 beats per minute (bpm) .
