She usually waits on about 30 parties over a weekend of work. a) Estimate the probability that she will earn at least $300 b) How much does she earn on the best 5% of such weekends? a) P(tips from 30 parties > $300)= (Round to four decimal places as needed.) -D b) The total amount that she earns on the best 5% of such weekends is at least $ (Round to two decimal places as needed.) Enter your answer in each of the answer boxes Type here to search 10006 PM /27/2017Explanation / Answer
Mean is 8.9 and standard deviation is 6.9
a) From each party she earns 300/30=10 tips thus P(x>10)=P(z>(10-8.9)/6.9)=P(z>0.16) or 1-P(z<0.16) , form normal distribution table we get 1-0.9452= 0.0548
b) P(x>X)=0.05
for 0.05, the z value can be calculated using 0.95 probability. this gives 1.65
Thus 8.9+1.65*6.9=20.285
For 30 parties it will be 30*20.285= 608.55
