Question

Complete parts (a) through (c) below. (a) Determine the critical value(s) for a right-tailed test of a population mean at the alpha = 0.01 level of significance with 20 degrees of freedom. (b) Determine the critical value(s) for a left-tailed test of a population mean at the alpha = 0 05 level of significance based on a sample size of n = 15 c) Determine the critical value(s) for a two-tailed test of a population mean at the alpha = 0.05 level of significance based on a sample size of n = 14 (a) t_ = (Round to three decimal places as needed)

Explanation / Answer

a) The t-critical value for a left-tailed test, for a significance level of =0.01 degree of freedom = 20 is we look into t table when alpha =0.01 and degree of freedom =20 the tc =-2.5258

b) similarly

when alpha = 0.05 n =15 degree of freedom = 15-1= 14

look into t table when alpha =0.05 degree of freedom =14 now we look right tailed the tcrit we get = 1.761

c) when alpha =0.05 degrees of freedom =n-1=14-1=13

looking into t table for alpha =0.05 when df =13 we get

left tailed tc =-2.16

right tailed tc =2.16
