Explanation / Answer

In today's coprorate environment where there is heavy competition and being in line with the latest trends is most important, change is inevitable. There has to be strategies that are to be driven which involves newer processes and procedures which inturn results in change of the overall structure. It is often seen that most of the people are reluctant to change and it brings opposition from their end as they will have to adjust to the new trends and work out of their comfort level. Therefore, it is very important that these changes are brought keeping all the risks both internally and externally and their advantages and disadvantages in mind. Below is an example of an organsiational change which occured very recently in the organsiation that I work in.

The organsiation that I work in is an IT solution provider to corporates around the region. It is a growing organsiation where it has developed its presence across several regions in the country and has been succesful to serve some of the top corporate customers. Since, the products and solutions this organsiation deals with faces a lot of competition in the market and to ensure that the existing customers as well as new customers are retained and served in a better manner, the company wanted to bring some structural changes. These changes were brought starting right from the top level to the lower level. The person heading this overall transformation was the Head of Business Development and had a rich experience of working in top corporates around the world.

Initially, the organsiation was not very well organised and the salesforce and the support staff were not able to retain or get new customers on board. Therefore, the overall revenues of the organisation started to dip which inturn increased the risk of the organsiation's fate in balance. With the inception of the new Head fro Business Development, he brought in a few changes which first developed a more structured approach towrds business by appointing people best suited for the job. This helped in increasing expertise over each process which helped get in customers as they were able to educate and convince customers in a far better and profesisonal manner.

The next change that was brought was in the processes within the organsiation. Earlier, it was a central admnistration, where employees from different regions had to report in to one central manager who was not physically available with the employees to solve their issues and grievances which further led to employee dissatisfaction. In the new change, a dedicated manager was assigned for each region who would be responsible to take care of the employee's well being and would be tasked on growing the revenues of that region. This process took around 3 months to get in line with the organsiation's mission and vision policies and finally everything was in place.

Overall, the change made helped in improve business across regions and also resulted in quality sales and thereby increasing the revenue. It is still at a stage where there are more improvements to be done, but the prime motto of the change to bring in expertise and improve customer and employee satosfaction was taken care of.
