Emotional intelligence is the interdependent of social and professional characteristics traits. The having the capacity to aware about, having control on self-emotions and handle the situation empathetically as well as judicially.
This is similar to the term “Emotional quotient (EQ)” and “Emotional Intelligence Quotient (EIQ)”. The person’s capability to balance their own emotions and then handle the situations very carefully by balancing the social and professional traits.
Here the person should have four types of abilities are Perceiving emotions, using emotions, understanding it and then managing it.
Perceiving means the analysing the situation and then detect it by seeing, observing emotions on faces, videos, pictures etc.
Using emotions means the ability to harness the emotions for the future use or it should be productive one.
Understanding emotions is that the person should understand the language and emotional base. One should actually feel the depth of the emotion.
Managing emotions is that one’s ability to manage the emotions so it may not be deep as they may affect or on the upper side so they may affect others feeling. So, the process of balancing is the management of emotions.
Factors of Emotional Intelligence:
Factors actually affect the process so they should be handled with utmost care. Factors of Emotional Intelligence are as follows:
Leadership effectiveness:
Leadership is the quality of the person which developed over time and with experiences. The leaders are the people who leads to the team who have the certain goals and motivates the team. The above-mentioned factors which are linked with the emotional intelligence in the following way. In order to lead a team, the Leader should aware about the situations which already aroused in the past so as make aware about the scenarios. On the basis of these scenarios the leaders would make effective plans or take effective decisions. The leader should have the self-awareness about the emotions of others in the team so that he can manage all of them. Self-regulation is the process which regulates one’s own emotions. The leadership quality would be affected by this as it may provide the over regulations or may do less regulations on the emotional situations. The self-regulation would also make balance between self-social emotions and self-professional emotions. The motivations are the quality of the leadership. The leader should be good motivator. He encourages the team members to do productive work. Hence the motivational skills affect the leadership quality. The head of the team should have to have the ability to judge the feelings of others and react accordingly. The empathy would affect the leadership as the power of judgement would be changed. Social skills of the person would change the decision-making ability of the leader. More social persons having less control over the emotions so leader may not response appropriately.
Emotional Intelligence can’t be taught because the ability of the person comes either from heredity, from social experiences or from level of own emotions. These emotion intelligences can’t be taught as the person itself develops the emotional intelligence. It has been developed by the experiences or cases happened personally to the person. The interpretation here is differ from person to person. The level of emotional intelligence also varies from person to person.
The person convinced me that they are having emotional intelligence by showing in their personality. For example, in an interview the interviewer checks the emotional intelligence by asking the questions such as tell me about yourself. This question tells that how much the person is aware about their self. The interviewer tries to see the qualities in the individual by asking questions such as when you get angry and how do you control your emotions. Question such that tell me your least favourite task and how the motivation comes from to complete this job. This tells the motivation level of the employee. I would get convinced when the person actually show in their personal traits and in the various situations during their jobs.
