State why you chose this as a goal for your communication competence. Is this related to a specific relationship? Is this just something that you want to work on for yourself? What do you hope to achieve by addressing this goal?

Explanation / Answer

The following are the 3 communication concepts where I would like to see and improvement.

1. Interpersonal communication-Remove redundancy in speech and make impact at the first time. bring in more examples and analogies to prove point. when one keeps on repeating the same point again and again, the listener would lose interest in the talk and may stop listening to you even though you are repeating the same thing.

2. Mass Communication-From lasswells model of mass communication, each of stages shall be understood in order to have good understanding of mass communication. This model starts with listening to the speaker. Most of us do not listen to understand but just to reply. I Need to listen more and understand the point which the other person is making before replying.

3. Social learning and non-verbal communication- Social learning theory states that human beings are capable of learning by observation of others behaviour and situations. People learn easily with their own experience rather than observing others. I would like to be those who can learn from others experience as well. though seems easy but it is hard to implement.

Improving the forementioned areas of communication would help others understand me better and vice versa. There will be less misscommunication and i would be able to put my point forward. when I am able to communicate better, work will be done quickly and more effectively. there are chances that rework is less and work is right the first time only.

I would follow the following steps to improvise-

1. start listening more rather concentrating on replying.

2. Understand and and then reply

3. do not repeat things again and again in the same conversation

4. start observing poeple and learn from thier mistakes.
