2a) doctors admit infants in NICU based on a certain crirerion for ex- weight of the child and other health parametres. but other infants could still be weak but dont require NICU. other infants could be completly healty but still die. all the three situation are independent of each other and does not define mortality rate of each other.therefore, it is difficult to compare infant mortality rate of newborns who go to NICU to newborns who did not go to NICU.
2b) the following data is taken from WHO for Korea(year 2009) for extremely low birth weight infants who were admitted to NICU
