Explanation / Answer
HR is an important aspect of organizations today because the department acts as employee advicate and also as tsrategic partner to the organization, hence organizations today do not ignore the presence of HR and it is also involved in most of the organizational procedures and rules. The smaller organizations even today do not feel the necessity of HR and generally one or two managers are designated as point of contact of HR who atkes care of the HR operations.
a. There has been quite some instances when I had to take an important decision by myself and there was no one from whon I could have taken inputs and I believe that such situations in a professional's career help the individual to grow and develop. While conducting the Performance appraisal of a senior employee who has been involved in various activities in his team it was difficult to conduct the appraisal for me alone as he has been involved in various activities within and outside the team but there was no one who could assist me at the tiem of the appraisal, hence I had to take the task up by myself and decide on what needs to be done. I evaluated the goals assigned to the employee by myself and conducted and completed his appraisal, he was satisfied with his appraisal but there was less number of feedbacks that I could provide and I feel that I could have done this differently so that he improves his performance and make it even better in the next cycle.
b. In an office environement, there are various safety concerns related and the management needs to look after these concerns so that the employee health is protected and the employee can be healthy and work better for the organization. The safety concerns are quality of air, quality of water, quality of lighting in the office, workstation ergonomics, acts of violence, etc.
c. In order to minimize accidents and sik leaves in an office environment, the steps that can be taken are:
1. Maintaining the quality of air and water which should pollutant free and safe to consume which will promote a healthy environment for employees and the management.
2. The lighting in the office should be as per the expectations and even more that that so that there is no issue regarding the same.
3. If there is any threat of violence then the organization should be prepared to combat that and the effect should not have an impact on the employees.
4. There should be a team dedicated to maintain such facilities to ensure that there is no such hazards and if there is any hazard then that should be taken care quickly by the response team.
d. Implementing a safety protocol altogether rather than change in day to day work habits are simple because changing daily habits are actually not feasible for an organization to carry out, hence there should be these safety protocols that needs to be defined in order to avoid such issues and make the process better.
