Explanation / Answer
In Study A, there are 2 different population of nurses- One from Texas and one from Georgia. Hence the samples are independent.
In Study B, again we have children being adopted in 2 different countries, so again thee children being adopted in china are not the same children being adopted in Russia. So these are independent samples.
An independent sample design is used in both study A and study B.
